She started swimming within a year of her arrival in London. Gaurika, who used to join the swimming pool with her father, was attracted to the sport at an early age.

Although she studied in London, she used to come to Nepal on vacation. When he came to Nepal, the grandfather, the devotee Rana, used to take his granddaughter to the swimming pool of Satdobato.

Rana, a veteran player of Nepali sports, saw the talent of his granddaughter Gaurika at the age of 10. Gaurika participated in the national swimming competition at the age of 11.

In July 2071, Gaurika caused a stir in the swimming pool of Satdobato. During that time, she won eight gold medals and one silver medal and set eight national records.

At the age of 11, Gaurika made a splash in Nepali sports after making a splash in the national swimming competition. After taking part in the national swimming competition, Gaurika started practicing more in London.

She returned to Nepal in May 2072. At that time there was a big earthquake in Nepal. She was on the fifth floor of the house when the earthquake struck. "That scene was very scary. We sat under the table in the middle of the room for 10 minutes. Even then, we went out when the shock of the earthquake was coming. There is nothing better because of the new house," Gaurika said in a conversation with the organizers at the Rio Olympics.

She competed in 6 events in the 20th National Swimming Competition held after that. She won gold in all with a national record. Soon after, she participated in the Finnish World Championships, setting two national records.

In 2016, she participated in the 12th South Asian Games (SAG). Gaurika, who prepared for that in London, also showed her magic in the swimming pool of Guwahati, India.

Gaurika won gold for Nepal in the individual competition for the first time in swimming history. On the 12th green, she created history by winning one silver and three bronze. She won silver in 200m individual medley, 100m and 200m backstroke and bronze medal in 400m freestyle at 12th Sag.

Gaurika caught the attention of the world in the Rio Olympics 2016. Gaurika, the youngest among the more than 11,000 athletes from around the world who participated in the Rio Olympics, was covered in media around the world. She competed in the 100m backstroke at the age of 13 years, 255 days.

Gaurika competed in the 2018 Asian Games. Gaurika did not compete in the 7th National Games due to various reasons But In the 8th National Games held in Lumbini Province, Gaurika created a sensation.

Gaurika, who competed from Tribhuvan Army Club in Nepalganjkou Poudi Pokhara in May 2076, managed to win gold in all the 12 events she participated in. With which she equaled Karishma Karki's record in the fifth National Games held in Kathmandu in 2065. Even then, Karisma had won 12 golds in swimming. This is a women's record. In the 13th South Asian Games held in Kathmandu in 2019, Gaurika performed very well.

Gaurika won the last gold in the 100m freestyle at the new swimming pool in Satdobato. She had won three golds before that. Gaurika set a record for Nepal by winning four golds in a single event in greens, while another record was set in her name by winning the first gold in an individual event in swimming.

Before winning gold in 100m freestyle, Gaurika also won gold in 200m freestyle, 200m backstroke and 400m freestyle.

With her fourth gold, Gaurika managed to tie the record with Nepali taekwondo player Deepak Bista who won the most gold in Saag. Deepak played four greens and won 4 golds. But Gaurika not only equaled but also set a new record by winning four golds in one green.

Gaurika had won a medal for Nepal in the 13th Saag competition. She won four individual golds and three bronzes in the team event. Along with the 800m freestyle relay, 400m freestyle relay, Nepal also won a medal in the 400m middle relay.

She won silver in 50m and 100m backstroke. With which she set a record by winning 9 medals in the 13th green. For Saag, Gaurika's family gave her the necessary training in the UK.
